Recruiting Roundup! UVa basketball misses out on a potential transfer, and Ty Jerome impresses once again

Virginia misses out on Paschal Chukwu

Welcome to another edition of Recruiting Roundup! Today, we will update you on a one-time transfer target, and a potential big man for 2016.

Let's go!

Chukwu to Syracuse:

The biggest news of the week came from Providence transfer Paschal Chukwu. After visiting both Virginia and Michigan State in the last week, the 7-2 big man elected to join ACC rival Syracuse. Chukwu had a really good trip to Charlottesville and the Hoos were one of the few schools receive a visit, but in the end, the former Friar went with the Cuse.

Good get for the Orange.

Cook Reschedules:

Elsewhere in big man recruiting, 2016 forward Tyler Cook was originally scheduled to take an official visit to grounds last weekend, but obviously, that did not happen. Cook instead spent his weekend at the NIKE Basketball Academy in Southern California. More on that prestigious event later.

With the NCAA imposed dead period beginning next Monday, Cooke's visit will take place in August at the earliest. Cook holds over 20 offers, but we consider the home-state Missouri Tigers as the favorite at this point.

Jerome in SoCal:

Fresh off of a standout performance at the NBPA Top 100 Camp, UVa commit Ty Jerome travelled 3,000 miles to partake in the Nike Basketball Academy. This probably sounds like an echo at this point, but once again, Jerome turned heads on the court out in California.

Jerome standout checked in 6-5, 185 pounds, and similar to his outing in Charlottesville, the Iona Prep standout put in work against some of the nation's elite.

The video above is Jerome's latest mix tape from his standout performance at JPJ at the Top 100 Camp.

Local Product Lands Big  Offer:

One of the hottest prospects in the region is right in our backyard. St. Anne's Belfield big man Javin Montgomery Delaurier has been on a tear lately, picking up offers from Georgia Tech, Florida, Georgetown, Cal, and North Carolina.

On Monday, the STAB product added to his already-impressive list, by picking up an offer from the Louisville Cardinals. UL is the eighth ACC school to reach out to JMD, but so far, the Hoos have not extended an offer.

Between Cook, Mamadi Diakite, and Wenyin Gabriel, the Hoos have plenty of front court options in 2016, but JMD is one to keep an eye on, especially since he lives in the area.

That will do it for this week's Roundup. See ya!
