Virginia's Quin Blanding makes Preseason All-ACC Team

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Virginia free safety Quin Blanding is the lone representative for the Cavaliers on the 2015 Preseason All-ACC Team. Clemson led the conference with five student-athletes selected, while Florida State and Virginia Tech each had four.

This isn't the first honor for Blanding, the 2014 ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year. Following the 2014 campaign, Blanding was named to multiple Freshman All-American Teams, including by 247Sports, the FWAA, Scout.com, ESPN, Sporting News, USA Today and Phil Steele. He was also the Scout.com National Defensive Rookie of the Year.

He is also on the preseason watch lists for the Bednarik Award, the Bronko Nagurski Award, and the Thorpe Award.

In all, though Blanding was the only one to earn a spot on the team, nine Cavaliers received votes from the media to the all conference team, including OT Eric Smith, CB Maurice Canady, DT David Dean, DE Mike Moore, K Ian Frye, WR Canaan Severin, C Ross Burbank, and CB Tre Nicholson.

Boston College, Syracuse, and Miami were the only schools not represented on the All-ACC Team.
