Virginia receives Capital One Cup

Hoos' men's tennis, men's soccer, and baseball teams power Capital One Cup victory

While the Hoos continue to battle the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, one of the highlights of the home opener has been recognizing Virginia's three (3!!) national champions from the 2014-15 season. Just about every TV timeout, a different NCAA champion got to take the field to thunderous applause from a packed Scott Stadium.

Along with the national champions, Virginia fans got to celebrate winning the Capital One Cup last year. The Capital One Cup is presented to the athletics program with the best overall performance, one for men's sports and one for women's.

Capital One Cup trophy and check

Capital One presents University of Virginia men’s athletics program with the Capital One Cup trophy and a $200,000 check for student-athlete scholarships for their 2014-2015 win.

The trophy is nice, but so is the $200,000 toward Virginia's general scholarship fund. It's always nice to add more shiny hardware to the Hoos' stacked trophy case. Daily tours are available for VPISU fans who are curious what a national championship trophy looks like.
