Baseball's Orange and Blue World Series

The Cavalier baseball team returns to the field this week for the public to enjoy as they kick off their annual Orange and Blue World Series

The National Champion Cavalier baseball team will kick off their annual fall Orange and Blue World Series on Thursday night at Davenport Field. The World Series will consist of seven games running from Thursday, Sept. 24, through Tuesday, Oct. 20th.

This year, the Blue team will be coached by volunteer assistant, Matt Kirby, who usually mans the first base coaching box for the Hoos, and the Orange team will be managed by first year student assistant, but former Virginia shortstop, Greg Miclat. Miclat is back on grounds to finish up his degree after being drafted by the Orioles in the 5th round of the 2008 draft.

This will be your first chance to see the reining champs back on the field. The Hoos return 18 letterwinners from last year, but will have to break in a fair amount of new guys as well thanks to graduation and the MLB draft. 18 fresh faces will be featured in the orange and blue this year.

The fall schedule also features the usual scrimmages against the Ontario Blue Jays. As most will remember, the Blue Jays used to feature the current Cavalier shortstop, Daniel Pinero.

The whole orange and blue schedule is below. No charge to get in.
