Bronco Mendenhall's first season at the helm begins with four out of conference opponents before finishing with eight ACC games. Nine of the teams UVa will play in 2016 went to bowls this past season. Following a home and season opener against Richmond, the Hoos will play three FBS teams coming off of bowl seasons, including road games against Oregon and UConn.
Oregon, as Wahoo fans will remember, won the 2013 match up against the Hoos 59 -10 in Scott Stadium, while the Cavs last played UConn in 2008 (a 45-10 loss on the road). The Hoos last played the Chippewas in 1996 in a 55-21 win at home.
In addition to their Coastal Division opponents, UVa's conference games include a road contest at Wake Forest and a home game against cross-division rival Louisville. Six of UVa's 2016 ACC opponents finished with winning seasons last year and the two with losing seasons, Georgia Tech and Wake, both are home games for the Hoos.
Coming off a bye-week on Oct. 8th, the Hoos have a three game home stretch against quality opponents in Pitt, UNC, and Louisville. The toughest part of the schedule though, as usual, is the end: hosting Miami before closing out the season on the road at Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech (though considering their underwhelming 2015's, an argument could easily be made for the home stretch as the toughest part of the schedule).
