The sixth annual Cavaliers Against Cancer charity poker tournament is open for registration. The tournament gets bigger and better every year, and this year will prove to be no different. There are already over 100 players registered, and now is the time to get involved.
The event will take place on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. at none other than John Paul Jones Arena. Your entry fee comes with food, drinks, giveaways, and THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS' WORTH OF PRIZES! Most importantly, all net proceeds of the event will be donated to the Rebecca Clary Harris, M.D. Memorial Fellowship at the University of Virginia Cancer Center. This fellowship celebrates the life of Rebecca Clary Harris M.D., a talented physician and researcher who excelled in the study and treatment of melanoma. The fund provides clinical and translational research fellowships to graduate students or fellows in the Human Immune Therapy Center at the University of Virginia Cancer Center.
To date, the event has raised over $75,000 for the cancer center, and they're hoping to break $100,000 by raising over $30,000 this year. You can help.
There are three tournaments -- a beginner's, main, and high-stakes tournament, and the tickets are priced accordingly. Not a poker player? You can still buy a non-player ticket to get in, and there's even blackjack for you if you want to try your luck elsewhere! All tickets come with a portion that counts as a tax-deductible deductible.
