The 21st ranked Virginia men’s soccer team beat #2 Notre Dame on Friday night in Charlottesville. In the seventh minute, Edward Opoku stepped in front of a Fighting Irish pass in the midfield, then took the ball into the box and placed it past the keeper to give Virginia the lead.
UVA keeper Jeff Caldwell made sure it was the only score of the night, recording 7 saves en route to a clean sheet.
Virginia improves to 7-2-4 (2-2-2 ACC), while Notre Dame drops to 10-2-1 (3-2-1). Next up for the Hoos are the Tribe of William & Mary on Tuesday night in Charlottesville.
