Each year, the Lott IMPACT Trophy is awarded to the best college defensive players in the nation who also makes the biggest IMPACT on their team, both on and off the team. They describe themselves as the only award in the country that equally recognized athletic performance as well as the personal attributes of a player.
IMPACT is an acronym for Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.
This year, Virginia ILB Micah Kiser has been named one of 19 quarterfinalists. Through seven games, Kiser leads the team with 77 tackles — 6th best in the country in this category — including 36 solo and a team-leading 41 assists. He’s registered 5.5 tackles for losses and a team-high 3.5 sacks on the season.
