2016-2017 Pack Line Pledge Campaign Kickoff

It’s happening again. Join the movement.

The Virginia Cavaliers tips off their 2016-2017 basketball season Friday night on the road at UNC Greensboro. This gives you two days to commit to the third annual Pack Line Pledge, benefitting the One Love Foundation in honor of Yeardley Love.

The One Love Foundation was founded following the tragic events in 2010, when Virginia women's lacrosse player Yeardley Love was murdered by her on-again, off-again boyfriend George Huguely, a member of the Virginia men's lacrosse team. The organization works to raise awareness about the early warning signs of relationship abuse and to activate communities to change the statistics surrounding relationship violence. Today, according to One Love Foundation, one in three women, and one in four men, will experience relationship violence in their lifetime.

One of the most well-known, well-respected defenses in the country, the Virginia Cavaliers are known for making each and every possession difficult for their opponents. You all -- the Virginia fanbase -- are the only ones in the country that get this rowdy for a shot clock violation, and this is something we’re all proud of.

We’re encouraging all Virginia fans to take the Pack Line Pledge. Over the past two years, we’ve raised over $10,000 for the One Love Foundation, and we want to blow it out of the water again.

Today, make your pledge. It can be $5. It can be $50. It can be whatever you want it to be. As the season progresses, each time Virginia holds an opponent to under 55 points, you’ll check back on this website to donate that amount. The tighter Virginia’s defense, the more money you’ll donate, and the more effective the One Love Foundation will become.

You’ll notice we bumped the pledge up from 50 points as the threshold to 55 points. This takes into account the shortened shot clock from last year. If under-55 were the threshold last year, you would have donated 13 times to the One Love Foundation.

Ready to make your pledge? Feel free to comment below how much you're pledging, but please be sure to officially log your pledge amount here. We'll publish this list on future Pack Line Pledge announcements.
