Virginia goes back on the road

Last week’s game was also my last home Virginia football game as an undergraduate. It was bittersweet: I love going to every home football game but never got to see a winning season. It shouldn’t have came as surprise that this year was going to be one of rebuilding. This week, Coach Mendenhall is putting Matt Johns back in the saddle and will experiment how to approach the upcoming matchup with Virginia Tech as well as the future.

The Yellow Jackets are coming off a big win against Virginia Tech but, for the most part, their season has been unsurprising. They beat teams that they were “supposed” to beat and, likewise, have lost games that they were “supposed” to lose. Sitting at 6-4, Georgia Tech should be going bowling and will need to beat Virginia to ensure that. On the other hand, Virginia will be playing with nothing to lose.
