Last year, Mike London and Frank Beamer coached their last games for Virginia and Virginia Tech, respectively.
This year, Bronco Mendenhall and Justin Fuente face-off hoping to bring home their first Commonwealth Cup win. Virginia and Virginia Tech have had very different seasons. The Cavaliers are 2-9, which is the worst record in the ACC. On the other hands, the Hokies are 8-3 and have been ranked for a good portion of the season. That being said, Fuente’s team has had close calls the last four weeks, including dropping a game against Georgia Tech.
Even though morale and enthusiasm for this season has waned, Coach Mendenhall will need to rally his players for this one. Virginia have lost the last twelve games against Virginia Tech. We’re all ready for the Hoos to bring one home. Let's break it down in THE COLUMN.
Special thanks to the STL writers who contributed to The Column this season: Paul Wiley, Danny Neckel, and Matt Ellis.
