The Virginia Cavaliers gave us a little bit of a scare on Saturday night before finally holding the Providence Friars to under 55 -- barely — in their 63-52 win to capture the Emerald Coast Classic title. The Friars missed a three-pointer on their final possession of the game to seal the deal for the Cavaliers.
With the Pack Line Pledge game against Providence, the Hoos are now a perfect six-for-six this season in holding opponents to under 55 points. Currently, 61 individuals have made a Pack Line Pledge (it’s not too late to join! You have six payments to make!). The pledge amounts combine for a whopping $611 per game, which means that if everyone comes through on their pledge, then so far we’d have raised $3,666.00 so far. Make sure you pay your pledge amounts!
You can use the little CrowdRise widget to make your donation, which is tax deductible as the money goes straight to the One Love Foundation.
For those of you who don’t remember, for ever Pack Line Pledge game -- that is, for every game that the Cavaliers hold their opponents to under 55 — Pack Line Pledge participants will donate a set amount to the One Love Foundation in honor of Yeardley Love. The better the Hoos’ defense over the course of the year, the more money gets donated towards raising awareness of relationship violence.
Make your donation above. But to join the list below and to receive email reminders when Virginia holds an opponent to under-55, be sure to register on the initial announcement page. Remember that no amount is too small — even pledging just $2 or $5 per game will make a difference. If CrowdRise has a minimum donation amount, just hold on to your gifts until you reach the minimum, or until the end of the season.
Big thanks to the following readers for making their pledges!
