Virginia Football commit Lamont Atkins named Virginia Gatorade Player of the Year

The 5'11, 200 pound all-purpose back receives the top state honors.

Virginia commit Lamont Atkins of Burke, VA was named the 2017 Virginia Gatorade Player of the Year, it was announced on Monday afternoon. Originally a Vanderbilt commit, Atkins had flipped his commitment in favor of Bronco Mendenhall and company in late April, having held offers from Northwestern, Maryland and Navy, among others.

Atkins posted just silly good numbers in his senior season.

He has signed his grant-in-aid letter and will join the Hoos for spring practice in 2017.
