The skinny:
A standout performer at pretty much every camp he ever attended while in high school, wide receiver Cole Blackman will look to bring his unique skill set to the Virginia football program. Blackman committed to UVa early in the cycle, and became one of the program's most vocal recruiters in the months that followed. Blackman broke several school records as an underclassmen at Glen Allen, before finishing his high school career at Atlee.
As seen on the film above, Blackman does just about everything well. He runs smart routes, he has excellent hands, and has the instincts needed to play wide receiver at the next level. Blackman is an ideal possession receiver, who can give a defense fits from the slot position. UVa's new offense will call for many four wide receiver sets, and Blackman will have a chance to make a name for himself on those short 10-15 yard routes.
Whether he's been playing with his quarterback for years or even three hours at a camp, Blackman has been known to build a symbiotic relationship with his quarterback. That type of trust has allowed Blackman to rewrite school record books and perform well in 7-on-7 settings during the summer.
While Blackman brings different kind of game to Virginia's receiving corps, expect him to redshirt in 2016. Though he posses many of tools needed to be a good receiver, Blackman will need to add more size to play at the next level. Downfield blocking is such a big part of playing the receiver position, and Blackman will need to put on some more muscle to be able to routinely knock opposing defenders out of the way.
