Virginia Football Recruiting: Hasise Dubois signs with UVa

The New Jersey native is a difficult matchup at wide receiver

Name Hasis Dubois

High School: De Paul Catholic (Wayne NJ)

Height/Weight: 6-3, 211 pounds

Ranking: Rivals 3*, 247 3*, ESPN 3*

Additional Offers: Kentucky, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, and Wake Forest among others.

The Skinny:

With a number of receivers committed to UVa towards the end of the summer, the previous Virginia football coaching staff was only going to take another wideout if he was a clear upgrade from what was already on the board.

Hasise Dubois was a no-brainer.

Dubois, who played seemingly every position throughout his high school career, settled in as a tight end/wide receiver hybrid role for De Paul Catholic this past fall. The move worked. Dubois hauled in 45 catches for over 700 yards and 12 touchdowns, while helping lead his team to a state championship.

As seen on the film above, Dubois is an ideal threat on jump balls. Dubois will tower over most opposing defensive backs and is difficult to bring down on the first hit. The future Wahoo is good speed for his size and displays several nice juke moves. Because he was so new to the receiver position, De Paul Catholic did not ask a whole lot of him from a route running perspective. The majority of the balls thrown his way were short slants or simple go-routes, where Dubois could out-talent pretty much anybody guarding him. Dubois has many tools in his arsenal, but must learn how to run all of the different types of routes.

Outgoing seniors Canaan Severin and TJ Thorpe are going, leaving two huge holes at the receiver position. The Wahoos will look to throw the ball plenty under new offensive coordinator Robert Anae, which will call for multiple receiver sets. Dubois is still learning the position, so a redshirt could be in the cards. However, Dubois size alone could get him onto the field as a rookie.
