Florida native chooses Hoos on National Signing Day

The twenty-fourth commitment of Virginia's 2016 football recruiting class came about as late as one could: after 4 PM on National Signing Day. In fact, Coach Bronco Mendenhall had already wrapped up his signing day press conference when the news broke.

But for Virginia, good things came to those who waited, as three-star defensive tackle Trysten Hill chose the Hoos over offers from Kentucky, Central Florida, and Georgia Tech. Hill had committed to the Yellow Jackets initially but reopened his recruitment in the last month.

Hill presents a prototypical physical profile for a defensive tackle, especially in a three-man front like Mendenhall has favored. He committed to Georgia Tech as an offensive lineman so he has plenty of versatility to fit different schemes and packages. There is some chance he moves to offense for Virginia, as Mendenhall stressed adding line depth in his remarks Wednesday afternoon.

You can see Hill's senior year highlights above. Welcome to the family, Trysten!
