2016 ACC Tournament Updated Bracket and Day 2 Recap

Georgia Tech upsets seventh-seeded Clemson, while Virginia Tech rolls past Florida State. Pitt and Duke also handle business.

An overtime game to start the evening left this guy pretty wiped out by the time he got home, but it made for a fun day nonetheless.

In the morning games, each of Pitt and Syracuse, as well as NC State and Duke, fought tooth and nail to the finish, but it was Pitt and Duke that emerged victorious to the next rounds. State led after the first half in an offensive blowout, but ultimately fell 92-89 in a game that lacked any semblance of defense. Pitt escaped Syracuse with a one point, 72-71 victory as they continued to strengthen their bubble resume.

When Georgia Tech was down 18 points in the second half, the arena assumed the game was all but over. Beer and food lines started piling up again. Kids were running around shooting arcade hoops. There was a little disappointment in the air as the afternoon games had all been so close. In the blink of an eye, though, the Yellow Jackets were suddenly within six, and as the final minute ticked off, Georgia Tech sent the game into overtime, picking up a 88-85 win over Clemson, who missed the opportunity to send the game into a second overtime to help out the Hoos, who now face Georgia Tech tonight.

Is there any bubble team hotter than the Hokies right now? Though Virginia Tech is probably on the wrong side of the bubble right now, they're playing their best basketball here in March, having won six straight games, including a convincing 96-85 win over Florida State in last night's finisher. Virginia Tech next faces Miami, a team they had just beaten last week. The last time Virginia Tech lost, though, was at the hands of the Hurricanes, who have had a mixed finish to their regular season.
