On Sunday, Virginia men's lacrosse took down No.8 Johns Hopkins in overtime thanks to a Mike "Super" D'Amario game winner.
The real hero of the day, however, was faceoff man Jason Murphy who was an impressive 17-of-26 from the faceoff X. Murphy's play (and the play of his wings Zed Williams and Michael Howard) helped Virginia overcome a 4-0 deficit and stay in the game to get a much-needed win.
On top of his 65% performance from the X, Murphy also added a goal and five groundballs to the victory. Murphy is currently ranked 9th in the NCAA with an overall 64.3% win percentage on the season. Considering many (myself included) considered faceoffs to be a weak spot for the team, Murphy has been more than impressive this season.
