Mike Tobey Leads the 4th Years to final ACC Regular Season Victory Over Louisville, 68-46

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

If anyone was writing out the script for how the UVa 4th years (and 5th years) were going to go out, you'd likely would have banked on Malcolm Brogdon scoring 20+ and leading the Cavaliers to yet another victory in John Paul Jones Arena.

You would not have been completely wrong. After all, Brogdon lead UVa with 17 points, but he was certainly not the story tonight against Louisville.

The night began with Even Nolte. After getting his framed jersey, the 4th year promptly hit two threes to set the tone for UVa and the JPJ fans. And even though Nolte did not register another point the rest of the night, a certain level of familiarity and comfort came across UVa fans after he hit those shots. Maybe a sign of things to come?

But the story of the night was overwhelmingly Mike Tobey. Tobey had struggled in games of late and had been the ire of many a UVa fan, but tonight was Mike Tobey's night. Tobey showed the fire all the Cavalier faithful had been hoping he would gain his entire career. In the end he had 15 points and 20 rebounds, his third double double of his career. At certain times it did not matter who Louisville had in the game, because if they missed a shot, Mike was coming down with it.

Finally, the 4th year that most forget about got his moment to shine. After Coach Bennett shifted out the regular starters, Caid Kirven got his time and drained a corner three that sent JPJ into pandemonium. Hell, it sent Twitter into a frenzy as well

In the end, UVa dismantled Louisville for a 2nd time this season, 68-46. UVa will be the 2 seed next week in Washington DC and will play the winner of Georgia Tech and Clemson on Thursday night at 7 PM.
