Not a lot of surprises this afternoon as the higher-ranked seeds advanced to reach the second round of the 2016 ACC Tournament. One game was a tight race, while the other involved Boston College, whose yearlong nightmare of going winless in both ACC football and basketball finally draws to a close.
At one point hitting three straight triples, NC State's freshman Maverick Rowan scored a game-high 24 points to lead the Wolfpack past Wake Forest, 75-72, holding off the Demon Deacons, who had a chance on their final possession to tie the game. NC State advances to play fifth-seeded and 19th-ranked Duke on Wednesday as the second game of the afternoon session.
No surprises coming on the other side of the bracket either. Though Boston College kept within single-digits at the half, Florida State blew the game open to come away with an 88-66 win over the hapless Eagles. The Seminoles were led by Devin Bookert, who put up 15 points in Boston College's historical loss to move to 0-19 against ACC opponents this season. They face sixth-seeded Virginia Tech tomorrow in the last game of the day.
