After dropping a midweek game to ODU on Wednesday, the Cavaliers are set to return to the diamond to continue ACC play this weekend when NC State comes to Davenport Field.
The Wolfpack are riding high this season thus far with a 17-8 record and #23 ranking. They have a 3-4 record, but that could be helped out by only getting in one of their three games last weekend in Tallahassee.
All three starters for NC State feature ERAs under 3.00, but Friday night starter, Johnny Piedmonte, is 0-2 in three starts for the Wolfpack. Their other two weekend starters, Brian Brown and Ryan Williamson, are undefeated with 3-0 and 4-0 records.
At the plate the Wolfpack will be lead by Junior catcher Andrew Knizer who sports a .330 average with 8 extra base hits including 4 home runs, and 17 RBI.
The most important piece of news for the Cavaliers is Adam Haseley will be moving into the weekend rotation, replacing first year Daniel Lynch, who will likely get a week off before moving to the weekday rotation. Haseley has dominated his starts thus far this year posting a 5-0 record and 1.75 ERA while limiting opponents to just a .172 batting average.
Expect impressive performances from both rotations this weekend, and hope the Cavaliers' bullpen can keep the Wolfpack at bay should the be handed a lead late.
