Commitment! UVa football lands three-star center

Bronco Mendenhall nabs his third commitment for 2017, this time from the Peach state.

Tyler Fannin

Virginia's 2017 football recruiting class landed its third commitment Friday afternoon as three-star center and Mill Creek, Georgia native, Tyler Fannin committed to the Hoos.

Fannin landed an offer from Virginia back in March, and he chose Cavaliers over numerous offers from other FBS programs including Illinois, Kansas State, East Carolina, and Cincinnati.

Listed at 6'3" and 290 pounds, Fannin already has comparable size to UVa's projected starting center Jackson Matteo. The Hoos have three centers listed on their roster currently with Matteo, a senior, joined by sophomore RJ Proctor and junior Eric Tetlow. It's yet to be seen what approach offensive line coach Garrett Tujague will take when it comes to playing underclassmen and rotating linemen, but given the relative lack of depth at the position Fannin should have a chance to compete for playing time as soon as he steps on Grounds.

Fannin is Virginia football's first offensive commitment of the 2017 class and his addition continues UVa's momentum on the offensive line after landing transfer Jared Cohen from North Carolina last month.  Check out the highlights below for a glimpse of Fannin's exploits on the field:
