Yesterday, the bus carrying the Virginia baseball team crashed after its driver lost consciousness due to a medical condition. The bus driver, Bernard Martin, died shortly after arriving at Mercy Hospital in Miami, FL. He was 72.
Our condolences to family of Bernard Martin, our bus driver who passed away Thursday. He was a great friend and supporter of UVA Athletics.

According to The Daily Progress, Martin "was a longtime fixture with UVa athletics, driving a variety of Cavalier teams." He was employed by Abbott Trailways of Roanoke.
Neither the team nor the coaches sustained any injuries in the accident. Our initial report is here.
Virginia and No. 1 Miami begin their three-game series at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
