Virginia's Mike Scott leads Atlanta Hawks to victory in Game 5 of NBA Eastern Conference playoffs

Scott comes off the bench to help Hawks defeat the Celtics.

Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports

Former Virginia Basketball star Mike Scott had himself a big game on Tuesday in front of a raucous, sold-out crowd in Atlanta as the Hawks defeated the Celtics 110-83.

Scott played 22 minutes off the bench, shooting 7-of-9 from the field, including 2-of-3 from three point land. He added one free throw (on one attempt), five rebounds, and a steal with no turnovers. His +/- of +26 was second highest on the team. His 17 points led the team, with Kent Bazemore and Jeff Teague each adding 16 apiece. Bazemore was an impressive 4-of-9 from three for the game.

After the game, Fox Sports Southeast caught up with the Wahoo.

Scott did fall victim to the #BazeGaze, however.

The Hawks Twitter (which you should check out...they do a fantastic job) asked their followers for 'Game 5 Headlines' following the win, and this is our favorite:

I think this fan agrees:

The Hawks now lead the series 3-2 over the Celtics, and Scott has 47 points, 21 rebounds, two assists, two steals, and a block in the last five games. He is shooting 19-of-32 (59%) from the field, including 6-of-13 (46%) from three in the 2016 NBA Playoffs. Game 6 is Thursday night at 8pm on TNT.
