UVA football's alumni weekend has landed Bronco Mendenhall a commitment from the son of a Cavalier football alum, as safety Joey Blount committed to Virginia while visiting Charlottesville. Brad Franklin of Rivals was the first with the news.
Another weekend commitment for #UVa, as the Cavaliers have pulled in Wahoo legacy Joey Blount. https://t.co/qJmUYf2twu

It's always exciting and humbling to see a family come out of Bronco's office after committing to UVA #HoosRising #GoHoos

The newest addition to the #HoosRising family is rated two stars by Rivals. He has yet to pick up a rating from 247 or ESPN. At 6'1, 170 he has the frame to size up well for competition in the ACC. Virginia was his first FBS offer, though Georgia Tech was showing interest.
Blount shows good ball skills, and he also plays WR for Landmark Christian. He flashes well in run support and makes decisive plays on routes across the middle. He definitely looks to use striking power to break up passes (and to make plays on special teams).
