When there was no drama on Wednesday, we should have known Thursday was going to be a drama filled day. With two games that saw teams take go ahead leads in the 9th, it certainly had enough drama.
Clemson 5 - Virginia 4
We recapped the Hoos game already, but the Cavaliers showed plenty of resolve by battling back from a deficit numerous times. Connor Jones had a more frustrating outing, allowing four runs over six innings and walking four. Thank God for Matt Thaiss though. The catcher was two for three with two runs scored and an RBI, largely in part to a game tying HR in the eighth. The Hoos will play Wake Friday afternoon and Clemson will take on Louisville. The Hoos are all but eliminated thanks to pool play, but two more wins could help solidify a national seed.
Florida State 6 - Georgia Tech 1
The Noles are starting to cruise. After taking care of NC State on Wednesday, they dispatched with Georgia Tech easily on Thursday. Cole Sands held the Yellow Jackets at bay for five innings limiting them to just one run on three hits and a walk. FSU's bullpen did an excellent job in relief, holding GT scoreless over the final four innings.
FSU sits at 2-0 and has set up the premier matchup of the ACC Tournament for Saturday when they'll play Miami. Georgia Tech falls to 0-2 and officially eliminated. The Yellow Jackets have a good enough RPI to make the NCAA Tournament, but they're certainly not going to host now. Expect to see them in an SEC or Coastal Carolina regional.
Miami 8 - NC State 7
The Hurricanes ended up winning a hard fought, back and forth battle, but there will certainly be no love lost between the two programs ever again after Edgar Michelangeli did this in the 9th on a three run home run to take the lead.....

Miami is 2-0 and will take on FSU on Saturday for Pool A. NC State falls to 0-2 and likely falls out of the National Seed discussion. The Wolfpack will likely host thanks to an impressive ACC record and stellar RPI.
The Hoos play Wake Forest at 3 this afternoon. UVa needs to avoid an 0-3 showing, so a win today is absolutely necessary.
