Virginia’s Quin Blanding named to 2016 preseason All-ACC football team by ACC media

Junior safety continues piling up awards

NCAA Football: Virginia Tech at Virginia Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Junior safety Quin Blanding continued his streak of awards and accolades on Wednesday as he was named to the All-ACC Preseason Football Team for 2016.

The team was selected by 191 media votes at the ACC Kickoff in Charlotte last week. Those voters were the same who picked UVA to finish last in the Coastal Division.

Blanding was the only Cavalier selected. Linebacker Micah Kiser finished fourth, just twelve points shy of Louisville’s Devonte Fields. Punter Nicholas Conte also just missed the cut, finishing as a clear but distant second to Miami’s Justin Vogel.

Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson was picked as the preseason Player of the Year. He was joined on the All-ACC team by 9 other teammates. Clemson’s 10 selections doubled up the next closest school: Florida State, with five.
