A decision has been made. Now we wait for the announcement.
During a teleconference today, UVA quarterbacks coach Jason Beck told reporters that a decision has been reached on Virginia’s starting quarterback. Beck deferred to head coach Bronco Mendenhall to make the official announcement. Mendenhall will speak with the media on Friday, which means that an announcement could come then.
Andrew Ramspacher of the Daily Progress shared the news on his Twitter feed.

The decision comes down to rising seniors Matt Johns and Connor Brewer, and junior transfer Kurt Benkert. Multiple sites have reported that Benkert received the lion’s share of reps early in fall camp. According to Doug Doughty of the Roanoke Times, all of the contenders have been informed of the decision.
QB coach says #UVa contenders have been informed of decision. Expecting Mendenhall to reveal it tomorrow. #HoosRising

A QB decision at this point has one clear benefit: it allows the person chosen more time to prepare with the first-team offense before the season opener on September 3rd.
