Virginia Football: Darious Latimore suspended

NCAA Football: Virginia Tech at Virginia James Lang-USA TODAY Sports

According to Andrew Ramspacher of the Daily Progress, Virginia football coach Bronco Mendenhall has suspended redshirt sophomore cornerback Darious Latimore for “a violation of team rules.” Ramspacher reported the news after Virginia’s second fall practice Saturday night.

Latimore, who hails from Lawrenceville, Ga., had two interceptions last year as a rd shirt freshman. He was competing with fourth-year Tim Harris and fellow second-years Juan Thornhill and Myles Robinson for a starting spot in the defensive backfield.

It's unclear how long Latimore will be out. In his absence, Harris, Thornhill, Robinson, and redshirt freshman Kareem Gibson are likely to see the majority of reps during fall camp. In addition, Virginia signed four defensive backs for the true freshman class: Nick Grant, Bryce Hall, Jordan Mack, and Chris Moore.

Latimore redshirted in 2014 before blossoming last season. He was a three-star recruit in 2014, according to the 24/7 sports composite.
