Some non-first year players still notably absent

After an emotional number ceremony earlier this week, 11 more Wahoos earned numbers before Virginia plays Richmond in the first game of the season this Saturday.

The eleven were:

  • Bryce Hall (#34)
  • Jordan Mack (#37)
  • Chris Moore (#39)
  • Lester Coleman (#47)
  • Robert Snyder (#52)
  • Hasise Dubois (#80)
  • Joe Reed (#81)
  • Alex Furbank (#84)
  • Cole Blackman (#85)
  • Juwan Moye (#95)
  • Landan Word (#98)

Of the 11, all but Coleman are true freshmen. Mendenhall said in his weekly press conference that true freshmen did not have the opportunity to select a number at the first ceremony. Coleman is a sophomore.

Among the players without a jersey are Andre Miles-Redmond, a senior defensive tackle; Darious Latimore, the sophomore cornerback; and Tyler Shirley, the junior long-snapper. Shirley was announced as academically ineligible before the season.
