So . . . 0 and 2 was not exactly the start that Virginia fans wanted. Albeit, last week’s loss was acceptable. This Saturday, UVa will travel to Connecticut to face off against the Huskies. Even though it is early in the year, Coach Mendenhall and his players most likely are viewing this upcoming game as a must-win if they want to go to a bowl game. With ACC play looming soon, the ‘Hoos cannot afford to lose winnable games.
Virginia played UConn in football back in 2007 and 2008 and split the series. Somewhat unsurprisingly, since 2012, UVa and UConn have one of the biggest differentials in success from the football to basketball teams. UVa basketball's winning percentage is 48% higher than that of its football team. UConn’s differential is 33%.
Regardless, the Cavaliers showed some promising signs last week and hopefully they can find the winning formula this week. Let’s break down this week in THE COLUMN:
