Virginia football’s big visit weekend has started to bear fruit, with the Hoos picking up a commitment from Georgia WR Shawn Smith.
Officially committed to the University of Virginia ⚔️— Shawn Smith (@_BigPlay9) January 21, 2017
Smith is a 3-star on 247 and Rivals. He had offers from a number of SEC powers including Florida, Georgia, and Auburn, with ACC schools Duke, Georgia Tech, and Miami also in pursuit.
His highlights, in two words? He fast. Standing right at six feet tall, Smith will probably fill a slot-back role like Olamide Zaccheaus did this year for UVA. He’s rated 87 by 247, and 86+ in the 247 Composite; that adds him to the plus side of the ledger for the talent-standard benchmark I set down last week.
Stay tuned to Streaking the Lawn for lots more recruiting coverage as we get closer to National Signing Day on February 1.
