All those weeks of following high schoolers on Twitter is about to pay off.
Wednesday, February 1st is National Signing Day for the class of 2017. Football recruits around the country will use a fax machine for the first and only time in their lives to submit their signed National Letters of Intent (NLIs) to the program of their choosing.
We’re your home for all of it, from the first pot of coffee to the last sip of bourbon. (Is that just my plan for the day?)
Here’s how it’ll work.
Player Profiles
As soon as we get word from the McCue Center that an NLI is in, we’ll publish our profile of each signee. We’ll collect all of the profiles in a hub here on the front page (those boxes with lots of related articles). There will also be an article pinned right at the top of the home page that we’ll update with links to the profiles as they come in.
Breaking News
As commitments happen, we’ll bring them to you. Will Mekhi Becton choose the Hoos, pick Tech, or head out of state entirely? Will the winding path of Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah end in Charlottesville, South Bend, or East Lansing? What is the Hawaiian Trio going to do?
When those answers make themselves known through the day, we’ll make sure you don't have to go anywhere else to find out what happened—and what it means for the rest of the class.
Analysis
You’ll have some background pieces to start the day: Matt Trogdon’s breakdown of Virginia’s roster numbers, and my “orange-and-blueprint” for recruiting success.
Through tomorrow and the days that follow, we’ll add plenty more analysis. Where are the new guys from? What were the hits and misses? Is this class one to remember—and for good reasons or bad?
Strap in, Streakers. (I’ve decided to call y’all Streakers.) It’s go time.
