The Hoos are sniffing the Top 25 and will get there if they can keep it up for another couple weeks.

What a time to be alive! Your Virginia Cavaliers are 5-1 and riding a four-game win streak that has them 2-0 in conference play. The Hoos are now receiving votes in both the Coaches Poll and the AP Poll, which is a far cry from where expectations sat before the season started.

Alabama continues to lead both polls, while Miami and Clemson lead the pack for the ACC as the two conference teams in the Top 10. Joining Miami and Clemson from the ACC are VaTech and NC State, and Notre Dame if you count them.

Extending the rankings, Virginia’s votes in the polls would put them 28th in the Coaches Poll and 29th in the AP Poll. We also included the S&P+ top 25 ratings -- the Hoos are at No. 34 with a 7.2 rating.

Virginia has not played any team ranked in the Top 25 of either poll — nor has the Coastal leader Miami, for that matter. The Hoos face Boston College and Pitt in the coming weeks before entering the gauntlet of ACC play in November, with Georgia Tech, Miami, Louisville, and Virginia Tech all on the slate.

Virginia and Boston College kick off at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 21 in Charlottesville.
