WATCH: Chris Taylor ties up World Series Game 5 with single up the middle

Former Virginia star shines on biggest stage in baseball.

MLB: World Series-Los Angeles Dodgers at Houston Astros Thomas B. Shea-USA TODAY Sports

Game 5 of the World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Houston Astros is the most bonkers insane game of baseball to have ever existed (For a full recap, check out the live blog going on over at SB Nation).

With the World Series tied at two games apiece, the Dodgers and Astros traded home runs and the lead over the course of the five hour and counting game (which at the time of publish was in the 10th inning). With a runner on third and two outs in the top of the ninth inning, down 12-11, Virginia baseball alum Chris Taylor stepped into the box and delivered the game-tying hit up the middle to force extras.

Taylor’s hit was his second of the game, and he also contributed defensively. In the bottom of the eighth inning, Taylor, who was moved from out field to second base, helped turn a double play to end the inning and give the Dodgers a chance to tie.

Maybe another Wahoo brought him some good luck...

Wahoowa! #WorldSeries ⚾️

Twitter, at least the part of Twitter that wasn’t lamenting staying up later, was impressed with Taylor’s hitting.

Even Mindy Kaling, from The Mindy Project and The Office, is impressed with Chris Taylor...
