TEN days from today, we will all be treated to the season opener of the new Virginia Basketball season. As we continue our countdown, it’s time to take a look at walk-on-turned-Green-Machine Trevon Gross, Jr.
A native of Jackson, New Jersey, Gross is a second-generation Wahoo as his father also attended the University.
Gross, now a third year, walked on to the team prior to last season after spending the 2015-16 season as a team manager. Last season, Gross saw action in 11 games, including against Boston College, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Louisville (lol), and Pitt in ACC play. He finished with three points, five rebounds, two steals, and two assists in those games.
Gross had a lot of run in the Pepsi Blue-White Scrimmage a couple weeks ago, and held his own. This season, he will continue to be relied upon on the “Green Machine” to help prep the team in practice and make sure the Wahoos are ready for game day.
The Green Team this year will be made up primarily of Gross, Justice Bartley, and Austin Katstra.
Don’t think he’ll need to make this shot this season, but nice to know it’s in his arsenal:
