Alright fellow gambling degenerates, here it is – your first taste of the 2017-18 Virginia men’s basketball gambling guide! We are just EIGHT days from the season kicking off, so let’s jump in.
Heading into this season, expectations are comparatively low for the Cavaliers as they open the season at 50/1 odds (per Vegas Insider) to win the National Championship on April 2nd in San Antonio, Texas.
Over the past few years, Virginia has garnered mostly love from the Las Vegas sportsbooks. In 2015-2016 the ‘Hoos opened as co-favorites to win the national championship at 10-1 (prior to Justin Anderson announcing his entry into the NBA Draft) and 25/1 this past season.
Vegas seems relatively unsure where to put the Cavalier’s odds. Around the web Virginia’s odds fluctuate anywhere from 25/1 (Oddshark) to 66/1 (Bovada) with the happy medium landing around the 50/1 mark.
The ACC is well represented in the current odds with national media and prognosticator favorite, Duke, leading the way at 5/1 odds, North Carolina at 12/1 and Louisville third at 20/1. Take a look at the chart to see how the rest of the ACC is represented (odds from Oddshark).
