Your 6-3 Virginia Cavaliers are bowl eligible, which means it’s time to start wildly guessing at where the Hoos are headed in December (or....January?!). Virginia is one of 5.5 teams in the ACC who have already clinched a bowl game this season — Miami (8-0), Clemson (8-1), Virginia Tech (7-2), and NC State (6-3) are all in, as is Notre Dame (8-1). Notre Dame is eligible to play as an ACC team in all the bowl tie-ins except for the Orange Bowl (although Notre Dame could play in the Orange Bowl against an ACC team).
On Sunday afternoon, Matt Trogdon outlined the ACC bowl tie-ins, together with selection order. There are a lot of contingencies outstanding — with three more weeks left of the season, and the top ACC teams still contending for a College Football Playoffs spot, too much is in the air to definitively say two which bowl the Hoos are headed.
Meanwhile, the national media is starting to pencil Virginia in to possible destinations. The current consensus takes the Hoos -- and Virginia fans -- to El Paso, Texas, to play in the Hyundai Sun Bowl. Here are hour five of the pundits come out.
