Virginia Football opens as a 9-point underdog at Louisville

Despite the Hoos’ record, early odds heavily favor Louisville.

The Virginia Cavaliers travel to Louisville, Kentucky to take on the Louisville Cardinals, who are 5-4 overall and just 2-4 in the ACC. While the Hoos have already clinched bowl eligibility, something that we have enjoyed typing over and over again this weekend, the Cardinals are still searching for that sixth win, with just three more chances at it (against Virginia, against Syracuse, and at Kentucky).

Vegas lines have already been set, and the Hoos are nine point underdogs against the Cardinals. Louisville has beaten Virginia for the last two years.

Virginia is 5-4 against the spread so far this year, including three of the five times the Hoos have been underdogs so far. Other than Boise State being favored by 13.5 points, this will be the largest uphill spread the Hoos have faced this season. On Saturday, Georgia Tech was favored by 7.5.

Louisville has lost three of its last four games — to No. 24 NC State (39-25), Boston College (45-42), and just this past weekend, to Wake Forest (42-32). The Cardinals beat Florida State two weeks ago, 31-28.

Virginia has been up and down in its last four, going 2-2. The only mutual opponent during this time was Boston College, who trampled Virginia in Charlottesville, 41-10.

Even Louisville beat reporter Mark Ennis is confused.

Kickoff for Virginia - Louisville has been set for 3:30 p.m. and it will be televised on ESPNU. Stay tuned to Streaking the Lawn for your continuing coverage!
