This story has been updated on December 3, 2017 to reflect Virginia’s acceptance of a Military Bowl invitation.
It’s December, and the Virginia Cavaliers are still playing football! For the first time in years, Wahoo students, alumni, and fans alike have something to look forward to following the ACC Championship Game -- bowl game selections!
Virginia announced its acceptance of an invitation to play in the 2017 Military Bowl on December 28 in Annapolis, Maryland, ending much debate on whether the Hoos would be most likely sent to the Military Bowl or the Pinstripe Bowl. Kickoff is at 1:30 p.m. ET in Annapolis, Maryland.
So, here’s what to expect beginning this Sunday, December 3:
Bowl Selections
Bowl selections will largely take place Sunday morning, and Virginia should know where the football team is headed by late morning to early afternoon. Unlike the Tier One bowls (Belk, Sun, Pinstripe, Music City or Taxslayer), which have equal selection status and will work with each other, the league, and the institutions to make their choices, the Tier Two Bowls select in order: Military Bowl first, Independence Bowl second, and the Quick Lane Bowl bringing up the rear.
Student Tickets
Students should have already received an email regarding their ticketing process in the event the Hoos are headed to the Military Bowl. They’ll be able to purchase their tickets beginning around 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 3. Student tickets will be general admission hillside tickets, which are $30 including ticket fees. You can buy them here.
VAF Donor Tickets
VAF donors should have also already received an email regarding their ticketing process, and it’s not unlike the student process. Similarly to students, the ticket office will start accepting ticket orders from Virginia Athletics Foundation paid-in-full donors around 5:00 p.m. ET.
Seats will be assigned at the time of purchase, but you can only get lower level bowl tickets ($90 including fees) if you have 2,500 priority points or more. Everyone else will be relegated to the upper level. If you’re buying through the VAF, you should do so as soon as possible, as it won’t be surprising if it sells out. You can buy them here.
Public Sale
If VAF donors do not buy up the full allotment by Sunday, leftover tickets will be made available for public sale beginning on Monday, December 4 at noon ET.
