Redmond had Virginia in his final three, alongside Louisville and and Rutgers, but was confident in his decision after visiting Charlottesville (understandable). He told the Orlando Sentinel:
It was kind of a hard choice before I got up there, but after I got up there it was kind of a no-brainer for me after the type of experience I had. I really like Coach So’oto and I feel that he cares about his players as a person and not just as an athlete, and I feel that when I get up there, if I have a problem with anything or I feel like I need somebody to talk to, he’s a person I can talk to.”
At 6-0, 292, Redmond is a big body that will continue to grow and develop at Virginia under Coach So’oto and the Wahoo staff. He’s also a strong student, earning a 3.6 GPA at Osceola High School (FL), and taking classes at nearby Valencia Community College to pick up college credits before heading to Charlottesville.
Redmond seems to be the total package, and he’s a fan of bowties. Win win.
