Virginia Basketball moves into top 10 in AP Poll

Welcome back, Hoos.

NCAA Basketball: Hampton at Virginia Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

The Virginia Cavaliers got a nice gift from the Associated Press voters this Christmas afternoon. They’re back in the top 10 of the AP poll for the first time since last January, as UVA has moved up four spots in this week’s Top 25 poll.

The Hoos soundly beat Savannah State last Tuesday and Hampton on Friday to round out the non-conference schedule at 11-1.

The top four teams in the ranking - Villanova, Michigan State, Arizona State, and Duke - held steady. North Carolina , Miami, Kentucky, and Gonzaga all fell out of the top 12 from last Monday’s poll after losing to Wofford, New Mexico State, UCLA, and San Diego State, respectively.

The lone other ranked ACC team is Florida State, who stayed at No. 24.
