Name: Jamari Peacock
Position: RB
Hometown: Yulee, FL (Yulee)
247 Composite: 3*, 84.63
Peacock—who enrolled in January—definitely fits the definition of a “big back” for Virginia: he’s well over six feet tall and north of 220 pounds. Lots of schools wanted that freight train in their backfield, as Virginia beat out Stanford, Nebraska, Florida, Florida State, and Miami, just to name a few.
As you’d expect, Peacock is tough to bring down. In high school he was at least the size of most opposing defensive linemen, let alone the poor defensive backs once he got to the second and third level. Once Peacock gets open field in front of him, he finds an extra gear you don’t expect from a runner his size. He’ll need to work on endurance: video clips from the first few offseason practices sure look like he’s laboring to get through a Wintrich workout.
