#HoosOnBoard17: Zane Zandier, OLB

Student Sports

Name: Zane Zandier
Position: OLB
Hometown: Clairton, PA (Thomas Jefferson)
247 Composite: 3*, 86.16

Going to a high school named for Thomas Jefferson, Zandier almost couldn’t help but land at Virginia. Among his highest profile suitors were Michigan State and West Virginia; getting Zandier to Charlottesville instead of Morgantown is one of 2017’s bigger recruiting coups.

As a testament to his athleticism, Zandier played WR and SS for most of his high school career. At 6’3, 210, he has a similar build to guys like Jordan Mack and Malcolm Cook. He’s got the speed and the size for Mendenhall’s system—and he’s got the tenacity too. There are some BIG hits on his tape. Zandier could be a real plus in pass coverage, but will need to develop strength and technique to fend off blockers and contribute in the run game.

Welcome to UVA, Zane!
