Virginia basketball head coach Tony Bennett announced late Wednesday afternoon that both Marial Shayok and Jarred Reuter will transfer out of the program at the end of the season. This confirms an earlier report that Reuter would be transferring.
"Marial and Jarred informed me today that they are leaving the Virginia basketball program and are looking to transfer to other schools," Bennett said in the release. "I thank Marial and Jarred for their hard work and contributions to our program, and wish them success in the future.”
Shayok played in all 34 games, starting 14, this season. During that time, he averaged 8.9 points per game and 2.4 rebounds, shooting 32.8% from beyond the arc.
Reuter played in 32 games, but did not start any. He averaged 3.8 points and 2.2 rebounds per game.
Virginia now has three open scholarships (Austin Nichols had the other one) that it can fill through high school recruiting or the transfer market.
