COMMITMENT: Wyatt Rector is UVa Football’s QB of the Future

NCAA Football: Virginia at Georgia Tech Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

While the Elite 8 is going on and the Cavaliers are trying to forget the mass exodus of basketball players, the football program got some great news in the form of their 2nd commitment in the Class of 2018.

Wyatt Rector, a dual-threat quarterback out of Leesburg, FL pulled the trigger and gave his notice to Coach Mendenhall and let the public know on twitter.

Rector is a 3 star according to 247, with offers from Eastern Kentucky, USF, and Southern Miss, but was drawing interest from the likes of South Carolina, Wake Forest, and just visited North Carolina on Saturday and Virginia Tech two weeks ago.

At 6-4, 220, Rector has said the coaches were letting him know he is physically similar to Taysum Hill, BYU’s former QB. He had limited playing time in his Junior season after suffering a knee injury, but expect Rector to put up big stats and for other big time programs to try and poach the QB.

He looks like he is already loving Virginia. His brother (we think) though? Doesn’t seem to happy.
