Saturday March 4th ACC Rooting Guide

After the UNC win on Monday and the rest of the ACC games this week, the Cavaliers stand at 10-7 and in a three way tie with Miami and Virginia Tech for 6th through 8th. The Cavaliers get the No. 8 seed right now thanks to being 1-2 against those other two teams.

Even with only one game on the schedule for most teams (it was a good 2017, N.C. State), UVa can still finish anywhere from 4th to 9th!

It’s not easy to break down the seeding and opponent scenarios given how many variables are still in play, but what we do know is we want UVa to win.

Should UVa lose, they’ll like finish in the 8/9 position and play in the 8/9 game next Wednesday with the winner playing UNC on Thursday.

If UVa wins, they’ll likely finish anywhere from 5th to 7th, based on the other games this afternoon.

There’s only one way for UVa to get the No. 4 seed in the ACC Tournament next week, and it could easily happen:

  • UVa beats Pittsburgh (KP: 89% of happening)
  • Notre Dame beats Louisville (KP: 22%)
  • Florida State beats Miami (KP: 74%)
  • UNC beats Duke (KP: 72%)

Should those things not happen, there are a plethora of outcomes based on those 4 games, Georgia Tech at Syracuse, and Wake at Virginia Tech. @DraftTaproom on Twitter was kind enough to break that down for us in a pretty excel sheet:

So, good luck to the Hoos today, and pay close attention to who wins.
