ACC Tournament Bracket Set: Virginia to receive 6-seed

North Carolina receives the top seed; Virginia avoids that half of the bracket

NCAA Basketball: Pittsburgh at Virginia Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

After a long, exciting day of conference play, the ACC Tournament bracket has finally been set. Things lined up just about perfectly for the Virginia Cavaliers, who easily handled Pitt and earned the No. 6 seed in the tournament. North Carolina had previously already locked up the No. 1 seed, followed by Florida State, Notre Dame, and Louisville as the 2-4 seeds, each of which will have a double-bye in the tournament.

Here’s what the bracket looks like:

With the No. 6 seed, Virginia’s first game will be Wednesday night at 9:00 p.m. against the winner of No. 11 Georgia Tech vs. No. 14 Pitt. With the No. 6 seed, Virginia will have the 9:00 p.m. game every night, should they advance. The Hoos will face No. 3 Notre Dame if they take care of business Wednesday night.

Virginia defeated Georgia Tech on January 21 by a 62-49 margin. The Hoos split the series with Pitt, as we all remember. Virginia looked completely dominant against Notre Dame, winning 71-54 over the then-No. 14 Irish, but that was way back in January 24.

We’ll have at least four Streaking the Lawn writers in New York for the ACC Tournament at the Barclays Center, so stay tuned right here on STL for your coverage all week long!
