Streaking the Lawn’s ACC Awards and All-Conference Ballot

With ACC end-of-season awards to be announced this week, the Streaking the Lawn staff collaborated to put together our own ballot, which STL managing editor Brian Leung submitted to the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association (ACSMA), the organization that has historically determined the official All-ACC honors.

Justin Jackson of North Carolina was our ACC Player of the Year pick, in what promises to be a tightly contested race with Luke Kennard, Bonzie Colson, and John Collins. Jackson took home 7 votes from our staff, with Collins earning three and Colson one.

All four made our ACC first-team and were joined by Louisville’s Donovan Mitchell.

Only one Virginia Cavalier qualified for the All-ACC team, with London Perrantes earning a spot on the second team, joining Dennis Smith, Jr., Jonathan Isaac, Kennedy Meeks, and Ben Lammers.

We also recognized Isaiah Wilkins, arguably the best defensive player on the conference’s best defensive team, as Defensive Player of the Year. Last season, Virginia’s Malcolm Brogdon earned that title along with the Player of the Year title, the first ACC athlete to earn both awards. Dennis Smith Jr. of NC State won Freshman Player of the Year, and Josh Pastner, who took a GT team picked to finish 14th to the NCAA bubble, was our Coach of the Year.

Here is our full ballot (or scroll down with individual picks, in case you want to figure out whom to call out). The ACSMA All-ACC honors, which will be announced this afternoon, Sunday, March 5, are no longer recognized by the ACC as the official results. Beginning this year, each school will have four votes -- the school’s coach, member of the radio crew, and two other media members (STL was not selected this year) — in an attempt by the league to decentralize some of the North Carolina and Virginia concentration.
