Shayok, Reuter announce transfer destinations

Darius Thompson remains undecided

Of the three scholarship players to transfer off the Virginia Cavaliers basketball team this off-season, two have announced where they’ll play in the future.

Guard Marial Shayok is headed to Ames, Iowa, where he’ll suit up for the Iowa State Cyclones.

ISU coach Steve Prohm had this to say about Shayok:

"The first thing that stood out with Marial is that he comes from a program with a culture of winning and defending," Prohm said. "He has been well coached and he understands the demands of winning at this level.

"Marial has great length and size. He is a player that can really defend. I think he is just tapping the surface of what he can do offensively. I'm really looking forward to seeing what he can do in transition and space on the offensive end."

Virginia fans will remember Iowa State well from the Hoos’ 84-71 win over the Georges Niang-led squad in the 2016 Sweet Sixteen.

Forward Jarred Reuter is sticking a little closer to Charlottesville, transferring to George Mason to play for Dave Paulsen.

The jury is still out on where Darius Thompson ends up. Reports have had him interested in both Butler and VCU.

Should Thompson transfer to VCU, he would face his former team this November in Richmond.
